Luke Balleny is responsible for ICMM’s governance and transparency work, including the organisation’s relationship with the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI). He also leads ICMM’s engagement with investors and ESG ratings agencies and coordinates the involvement of ICMM’s national and commodity association members.
Prior to joining ICMM, Luke worked as a journalist at the Thomson Reuters Foundation, the charitable arm of Thomson Reuters, where he wrote about global corruption, governance, transparency and accountability issues.
Earlier in his career, Luke worked in the Thomson Reuters Global Business Compliance group where, among other responsibilities, he managed the day-to-day running of the company’s internal anti-bribery and corruption program.
Luke has a BA from Brown University in International Relations and a MA from The School of Oriental and African Studies in International Studies and Diplomacy.
